Make Your Project Management System Your Own
An important factor when selecting a project management system is to consider whether your firm is willing to conform to the way a “one-size-fits-all” program functions or if your firm requires software that can be customized to work the way your firm does.
DesignSmart has dozens of configuration settings. Some of these are for setting personal preferences, and others are for setting your firm’s default settings. Together, these allow you to tailor the system to meet your firm’s needs. However, as firms grow and become more successful, they develop workflows that play a key part in that success, and typically, those workflows extend beyond the capabilities of DesignSmart configuration tools.
When this happens, DesignSmart clients will have the option to request customization. These customizations generally fall into three categories:
Report Customizations
- A firm has specific brand standards for all public facing documents.
- A firm has a proposal format they prefer to DesignSmart's default proposal.
- A firm has key management reports that they need DesignSmart to create.
Layout Customizations
- A firm has specific types of data about specific hotel brands and needs DesignSmart’s layouts to accommodate these data fields.
- A firm needs for DesignSmart’s Address Book to include additional fields.
- A firm needs a special view for their accountant because of how they deal with invoicing.
Coding Customizations
- A firm needs financial safeguards that prevents purchase orders from being issued until specific financial conditions are met.
- A firm needs specific staff to approval purchase orders before they can be issued.
- A firm needs different company letterhead to appear based on who the purchaser is.
